A Brief History
after his defeat in a battle in 786 AD , Idriss arrived to Zerhoun in northern Morocco, fleeing from his enemies in the east (Saudi Arabia).
Here, he achieved a remarkable feat, earning the respect of the Local Berber tribes , who soon pledged their allegiance to him, and making him their leader.
Within a short span, Idriss unite diverse territories under his rule, marking the birth of the Idrisid state. This pivotal moment in history signaled the transition of Morocco from tribal governance to an independent state.
Upon his passing, Idriss buried in the mountain town he built, which eventually became known as Moulay Idriss Zerhoun. Over time, it became place of profound significance, drawing pilgrims from across Morocco and beyond to honor the memory of the Prophet’s great grandson and the visionary founder of Morocco.

Moulay Idriss Zerhoun is a sacred Town situated in northern Morocco, a country located in North Africa.
Often referred to as the “Kingdom of Light,” Morocco boasts a strategic location with the Mediterranean Sea to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. In fact, it is separated from Spain by a mere 14 kilometers across the sea, offering close proximity to Europe.

If all roads lead to Rome, then here in Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, all roads lead to Zawiya it is located in the center of town, and its main entrance is in front of the main square.Bad News

Old Medina
Location
The old Medina is divided into two districts: the Khaybar district and the Tazgua district.
